A community health needs assessment (CHNA) is a required process for tax-exempt hospitals to identify significant health needs in the communities they serve. CHNAs combine public health data, community input, and organizational analysis, then inform implementation strategies and community benefit priorities. Strategically, a CHNA can connect mission obligations to service line planning, health equity work, partnerships, and access investments.
